Noisy Heater

Possible Cause Solution
Check heat exchanger system  for scale deposits. Ultimately this can cause the heat exchanger fins to discolor and buckle. Descale entire unit using Descaler Pt. No.PMG 50/40008 or replace unit - Pt. No. PMG 10/14689.
Unit is overheating and causing the water to be turned to steam. Check that the E.C.O. Pt. No. PMG 10/19055 is properly installed and working.  It is designed to turn off the unit on an over-heat condition.
Noisy ignition could be caused by incorrect setting of the slow ignition screw. The slow ignition screw is positioned above the sensing tubes in the water diaphragm housing. Turning the screw clockwise delays the ignition, counter-clockwise advances the ignition. never turn the screw fully clockwise. When correct the burner ignition should be smooth and quiet when a hot water faucet is open.
Burner Aeration ports and main flame ports blocked. Carefully clean the burners with a vacuum cleaner.
Unit has knocking sound coming from it. Check behind the cover to make sure that there are no animals or other criters in the burner/heat exchanger area.
